On April 23, OPM published the proposed regulation “Improving Performance, Accountability and Responsiveness in the Civil Service” in the Federal Register. This regulation revives “Schedule F” under a new name, “Schedule Policy / Career.”
This regulation would create a new category or “schedule” of federal workers that would not have any civil service job protections, making them effectively at-will employees who can be more easily fired by the Trump administration. And the regulation would involuntarily move tens of thousands (or more) of current federal employees into this new "Schedule P/C," thus stripping current civil servants of their job protections. OPM has provided a 30-day comment window before the regulation is finalized -- comments will be due on May 23.
Please join Democracy Forward and Protect Democracy for a webinar on Thursday, May 1st at 2pm ET to learn more about the proposed rule and why and how to engage.

We’ll send critical updates about ways to support the civil service and additional resources as they become available.
